Surgery clinics

We offer a range of clinics and services at the surgery. There are some tasks you can do, such as health reviews, using our online forms.

Adult and child immunisations

The practice nurses carry these out during surgeries by appointment. Most immunisations are available, including influenza from the beginning of October each year.

Some are available on the NHS, but for some there may be a charge. There is no charge for routine childhood immunisations.

Cervical smears

These are available by appointment with the practice nurse.

Baby and child health clinics

These are run by the health visitors to monitor growth and development of all pre-school children. They will also offer advice and support on all aspects of child care.

At present, the health visitor is at Bream on the 1st Wednesday of the month and at Yorkley on the 4th Thursday from 1:30pm to 2:30pm.

She is available to give health advice and support to all families with young children. You can contact her directly on 0300 421 8746. A letter will be sent directly from Gloucestershire Child Health Department letting you know when it is the correct time to make an appointment with the doctor for your baby’s check up.

Expert patient programme

If you have a chronic long term health condition, ask the receptionist for a leaflet on the expert patient programme.

Home nursing

Patients who are confined to their homes and need nursing assistance may arrange for a community nurse to call. The hospital will normally arrange for a nurse to call on patients who are discharged but need nursing care.

If you need to contact the community nurse you can ring 01594 563 154 and leave a message and someone will contact you.

Maternity care

Antenatal care is provided by our midwife. Please make an appointment.

Postnatal examinations are carried out by the GP eight weeks after birth.

Joint injections

Dr Andrew Edwards, and Dr Jonathan Cleary perform joint injections. Please make an appointment in the surgery first to arrange a mutually convenient time.

Phlebotomy

Blood tests are by appointment with the phlebotomist. Appointments may be made online.

Family planning and contraception

Please make an appointment with the doctor or practice nurse during surgery hours.

They are also able to give advice on emergency contraception.

If you have been advised by the surgery to complete a review of your contraception, you will need to fill out our contraception review form.

Forest of Dean spirometry service

Spirometry is a test to measure your lung function or breathing. A machine called a spirometer measures the speed and amount of air that you blow out.

Please view our Spirometry leaflet (PDF).
